LA Galaxy striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic, 38, did not rule out a return to Italy and suggested that he would become an immediate idol of fans if he joined Napoli.

"I would like to go to a team looking for the title, I can still make a difference," he said. "I am not a zoo animal that people come to see, I can score more than 20 goals."

He added: "After watching the recent documentary about (Diego) Maradona, I would like to experience Napoli, maybe replicate what Diego accomplished.

"With me, San Paolo would always be full and (Carlo) Ancelotti is a great coach. But the final decision would depend on several things."

Ibrahimovic insisted that Jose Mourinho "It is still The Special One" and continued its criticism of long ago about Pep Guardiola.

Ibrahimovic spent a total of 18 months working with Mourinho in the Inter Milan and then at Manchester United, winning a Series A title in Italy and later a Carabao Cup and the Europa League in Old Trafford.

Despite the great success in the first part of his career, Mourinho has won only two league titles since 2010 and failed to reach a Champions League final since winning the triplet with Inter that season. However, Ibrahimovic has backed the Portuguese coach to rediscover his winning touch.

"We keep in touch, it had an incredible impact on my career," Ibrahimovic told La Gazzetta dello Sport. "He remains the Special, a winner.

"I hope he returns to a bank soon and I am sure he will win immediately."

Ibrahimovic's first 'romance' with Mourinho ended in 2009 after 12 months when he signed with Guardiola in Barcelona, and the Swede has regularly criticized Guardiola since then.

"We never had a confrontation, it was only for him," Ibrahimovic said of Guardiola. "When we faced, he hid from me.

"I returned to the locker room after the game and he was in a room waiting for me to leave. At the door, one of his assistants said: 'Ibra is gone, you can leave now.'"

"He is a phenomenal technician, but as a man …".
